The Pledge Program
The Pledge Program is a fun, welcoming program for girls ages 6–10 who want to make friends, try new things, and learn the value of kindness, service, and helping others. It gives younger girls a chance to experience IORG before becoming eligible to join the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
Through the Pledge Program, girls can participate in activities, community service, and social events while building friendships and gaining experiences that can stay with them for years to come. When they turn 10, girls who enjoy the program may choose to continue their journey by petitioning to join the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
There are no membership fees or dues to participate in the Pledge Program. From time to time, families may be invited to help with an activity by volunteering as a chaperone, providing transportation, or bringing refreshments. Parents, grandparents, and legal guardians are always welcome and encouraged to attend meetings and activities. We want the Pledge Program to be something the whole family can enjoy!
The Pledge Program gives girls opportunities to help others through fun, age-appropriate service projects. Along the way, they can experience the pride that comes from working together, making a difference, and seeing the results of their efforts.
Rainbow is also a great place for girls to build confidence and develop skills they can use anywhere. Pledges have opportunities to practice taking responsibility, working as part of a team, leading activities, speaking in front of others, and listening to their friends. The goal is to help every girl feel comfortable trying new things and discovering what she is capable of.
For meetings, Rainbow Pledge girls are asked to wear a dress or skirt. Adult leaders and women guests who assist with the program are also asked to dress in a similar style.
Throughout the year, Pledge girls will also have opportunities to participate in activities alongside members of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. These experiences give them a chance to make new friends and get a feel for what IORG is all about. When they turn 10, they can decide for themselves whether they would like to continue participating by becoming a member of IORG.

FAQs About Pledge
When and where do the Pledges meet?
Most Pledge Groups meet once a month at a date and time set by the IORG Assembly and the advisory board.
Who may attend Pledge meetings?
The meetings are open to the Pledge members’ family and invited guests. Prospective members and their parents are welcome to come and observe.
What do they do at a Business Meeting?
They have a very short opening and closing ceremony, read minutes, and report on activities. A regular meeting is about 20 minutes long or less. Then they usually retire for crafts and refreshments.
Who is in charge of the local Pledge Group?
The Pledge program is sponsored by the local IORG Assembly, whose advisory board appoints a Pledge Mom and Assistant Pledge Mom. The Pledge Mom and Assistant Pledge Mom are responsible for the operation of the Pledge group and work with the local Assembly and state leadership.
Is it a Religion?
No. Similar to IORG, Pledge requires a belief in a higher being and overall spiritual wellness. While our ceremonies are rooted in the Christian religion, it is not necessary to be Christian, and the ceremonies can be adjusted to accommodate other religions and/or spiritualities.
Is it expensive?
There are no initiation fees or dues and any donations are strictly voluntary.
